Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., took a leap of faith Thursday on a visit to Fort Bragg Army Base, just outside of Fayetteville, N.C. Yes, that’s right, after completing a town hall and taking part in briefings on the base, the 59-year-old senator jumped out of a plane for the first time in his life.

Fort Bragg is the home to the United States Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights. Tillis and Maj. Gen. Frank Muth, who was visiting the base with the senator, were invited to go skydiving with the team  … ya know, for readiness.

The senator was attached to a “Golden Knight” with, presumably more experience, but he did manage to play a few chords on his air guitar part of the way down.
