One of the many disagreements between House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in recent weeks has been over the integrity of the electoral system.

Though Ryan said he has already voted “for our nominee,” he objected strenuously to Trump’s talk of a rigged election in mid-October, with his spokeswoman AshLee Strong saying, “Our democracy relies on confidence in election results, and the speaker is fully confident the states will carry out this election with integrity.”

Though Trump’s voter fraud claims have been widely and exhaustively debunked, other Republicans have been making similar claims for years.
