Iraq Vet Blasts Trump Over Allegations of Theft of Millions

An Iraq war veteran is not taking too kindly to Donald Trump’s accusations that some soldiers stole millions from Iraqi reconstruction funds.

In a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said some soldiers were “living quite well” after stealing millions of dollars.

“How about bringing baskets of money, millions and millions of dollars, and handing it out,” Trump said. “I want to know, who were the soldiers who had that job? Because I think they are living very well right now, whoever they may be.”

A Trump spokeswoman later clarified that the billionaire mogul was talking about Iraqi soldiers.

Corbin Reiff, a writer for Rolling Stone and the A.V. Club, among others, responded with a Twitter rant on Wednesday.

My job for a whole year was to assess damage to Iraqi citizen’s property, and person and compensate them monetarily.
