Senate Hearing Evacuated for Reported Bomb Threat

A Senate hearing on the Transportation Security Administration was forced to recess Tuesday due to a reported bomb threat in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, told those attending the hearing in SD-342 to leave “in an orderly fashion … as quickly as possible” shortly after noon. Capitol Police released the following statement: “The USCP received a phone call reporting a suspicious package in room SD-G40 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building (DSOB). Several floors in the DSOB have been evacuated as a precaution while the USCP continues to investigate.” Read more.
