The Chamber of Commerce of the U.S. sent $500,000 to a national Republican organization just in time to have an impact on the North Carolina Supreme Court primary election.  

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) , a Section 527 political organization, reported it had receipts of $1,625,373 and disbursements of $1,354,168 during April. The RSLC received $500,000 from the Chamber of Commerce of the U.S.  on April 25th. Earlier this year the RSLC had received $100,000 from the Chamber.  

Other major donors during April included $230,000 from A. Henson, retired, from Cape Girardeau, MO; $100,000 from Astrazeneca Zeneca Services (DE); $100,000 from MMIC Agency, Raleigh, NC; $50,000 from the Alliance of Automotive Manufacturers (DC); and $50,000 from the American Beverage Association (DC).  

The RSLC contributed $900,000 to Justice for All NC, including $650,000 on April 23rd and $250,000 on April 30th. The RSLC also gave $75,000 to Keep Conservatives United, based in Raleigh, N.C.  

The May 6th primary for the North Carolina Supreme Court did not include party affiliations of candidates on the ballot. Robin Hudson, a current associate of the state Supreme Court and a Democrat, was running against Republicans Eric Levinson and Jeanette Doran. The Charlotte Observer reported that Justice for All NC ran ads criticizing Hudson for being soft on child molesters.  

Hudson and Levinson received the largest number of votes on May 6th and will compete in the November election.
