Rep. Louise Slaughter fell and broke her leg at an event in New York City on Tuesday.

Following the mishap, the New York Democrat’s office quickly released a statement saying she was in good condition and would return to work when Congress reconvenes on April 16.

“The Congresswoman looks forward to getting back on her feet and continuing her fight for the hard working families of Western New York through November and into her next term,” the statement said.

While the broken leg likely won’t hinder Slaughter from returning to Capitol Hill, her office did say she would miss the ceremonial signing of the STOCK Act on Wednesday.

In the House, Slaughter has been a strong advocate for the ethics-based legislation for more than half a decade.

The issue of Congressional insider trading attracted significant attention last fall in the aftermath of a “60 Minutes” report.

In February, the legislation passed on a bipartisan vote, 417-2. And in March, the bill passed the Senate in an overwhelmingly bipartisan fashion with a 96-3 vote.

The legislation prohibits Members of Congress and their employees from buying or selling securities and other financial instruments based on nonpublic information obtained as a result of their work in government.
