Sen. Joe Lieberman dug deep into the grandpa collection for some Senate bedtime reading today.

I don’t know if you remember him, but he was a very good-natured moose. One by one, through the pages of the book as Dr. Seuss records it, other animals in the forest want to lodge in his enormous antlers, and he welcomes them until finally there is too much there, and his antlers fall off and they all fall to the ground.

Oh wait, that’s not it. Lieberman was saying that he didn’t want “this wonderful bill” to get too many amendments and “be so loaded up that it falls by the wayside — like Thidwick’s antlers — and does not pass.”

Now, we’ve never heard of this book, but this kindly lady on the Internet just read it to us, and it seems Lieberman left out the ending, where the animals except for Thidwick are all killed and stuffed by some Harvard Club hunters.
