You’d think that as a Pennsylvania native, Rep. Lou Barletta would have been glued to a TV screen as the Philadelphia Phillies took on the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

But an HOH spy says this was not the case.

The Pennsylvania Republican was indeed at a bar — the ever-classy Pour House — but he didn’t seem to care much for the game as he enjoyed some food and drinks, even as the Phillies beat the Cards, 3-2.

But never fear, baseball fanatics: Barletta was just waiting for the New York Yankees game to come on.

HOH learned that Barletta is a lifelong Yankees fan (a spokesman in his office used the word “rabid” to describe the Congressman’s devotion).

That’s appropriate since the district that he represents is home to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the Triple-A affiliate for the major league team, and is a big Yankees area.

After all, the Congressman was a pitcher in the annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game this year, so how can he not love America’s favorite pastime?

The Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers, 10-1, on Tuesday night. When HOH asked whether Barletta was in a good mood Wednesday, the Barletta spokesman said, “I think that any day he gets to represent the people of northeastern Pennsylvania is a good day, but yeah, he was happy with the outcome of the game.”
