Heard on the Hill: A Late Night at Bistro Bis

Rep. Peter DeFazio was spotted kicking back at Bistro Bis on Thursday night. A tipster saw the Oregon Democrat sipping sparkling wine late into the evening alongside an unidentified blond woman.

“They looked like they were having a nice chat,” our tipster says. “But I was surprised to see him drinking bubbly and not a good Oregon pinot noir.”

Earlier, DeFazio attended a Capitol Hill reception hosted by fellow Oregonians. “Afterward, he met up with a friend [and] had a glass of sparkling wine the waiter recommended to go with the cheese plate that he ordered,” DeFazio spokeswoman Jen Gilbreath says.

DeFazio wasn’t the only lawmaker from the Beaver State to visit Bistro Bis on Thursday. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) was also there having dinner with a constituent. He was even sporting a little home-state pride in a University of Oregon hat.

“It’s his favorite hat, but he’s been wearing it a lot more lately in order to make up for having to wear that Auburn tie that Sen. [Jeff] Sessions sent over after the BCS Championship,” Wyden’s deputy chief of staff, Jennifer Hoelzer, tells HOH.

Wyden lost a friendly wager that he and the Alabama Republican made on the national championship game.
