HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Rigell’s Twitter Mishap

Rep. Scott Rigell got into some hot water this week over his Twitter page. Seems the Virginia Republican has been following some questionable accounts, according to the article, “Know who you’re following on Twitter?” posted by a local Fox affiliate.

Rigell, according to the report, has been following salacious accounts such as “Let There Be Porn,” “Fast Lane Mag,” “Hottest Phone Sex” and “Sexoroid.” Not exactly behavior becoming of a Congressman.

Turns out there is a simple explanation for the blunder. Rigell’s office uses software that is set up to make Rigell’s account automatically follow anyone who follows him.

“Although we try and monitor for spam-like actions such as this, there are some that do get through,” Rigell Communication Director Crystal Cameron told Fox. “We were completely unaware of this, and our new media people have taken immediate action to disable the program and remove any inappropriate content.”

After being contacted by Fox, Rigell’s office stopped following the controversial accounts.
