Police Technician Charged With Setting Car on Fire

John Novak, a Capitol Police technician of the K-9 unit, was charged on Sept. 14 for intentionally setting a vehicle on fire.

The charge — burning or destroying personal property worth more than $200 — is a Class 4 felony.

“Novak is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” said Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for the Capitol Police.

Novak, a 43-year-old resident of King George, Va., is a 15-year police department veteran.
