House Democrats will now be able to follow “internal” happenings on the chamber floor from their computers, after Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) announced Tuesday a new feature on the Democrats’ intranet website.

Called the House Floor Feed, the feature will provide Democratic Members and staffers with regularly updated floor information on demcom.house.gov. It will soon be available on BlackBerrys, according to a press release.

“This regularly updated Floor Feed will provide a valuable service to Democratic Members and staff by helping to keep them informed on up-to-the-minute developments on the House Floor,” Hoyer said in the release. “I am committed to using all of the tools at our disposal to ensure the quickest and most effective communication between my office and the entire Democratic Caucus, and the Floor Feed is just another example of how we can best utilize technology as an informational tool.”

House leaders created DemCom last year, aiming to provide Democrats with a one-stop shop for policy discussions and internal documents. The floor feed was initially launched a few months ago to chiefs of staff and legislative directors but access was expanded to all House Democratic staffers on Tuesday.
