Republican Kevin Yoder said Monday that his campaign for the open 3rd district seat had crossed the $800,000 threshold in fundraising to date.

Yoder’s campaign said it took in $290,000 in the just-finished quarter.

The campaign did not, however, have its cash-on-hand figure ready to release.

Yoder is running for the nomination for the seat of Rep. Dennis Moore (D), who is retiring but hoping to be succeeded by his wife, Stephene Moore.

Strong fundraising helped Yoder, a state Representative, move up a rung to “Contender” in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s “Young Guns” program.

On Monday, the NRCC said it had elevated Yoder to the second step of the three-stage program.

“Kevin Yoder has already proven that he will be a formidable candidate by meeting the Young Guns program’s rigorous goals and is well on his way to building a winning campaign that will put this seat in the Republican column,” NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas) said in a news release.
