Freshman Rep. Tom Perriello (D) dumps coffee on his shirt and literally does dirty work in his first television commercial as an incumbent.

The spot, airing in the Richmond and Charlottesville markets, is aimed at illustrating support for farm, factory, police and landfill jobs.

“No one will work harder to bring jobs to Virginia,” Perriello says in the spot.

He faces state Sen. Robert Hurt (R) in what is expected to be a hard-fought general election contest.

Hurt was among the contenders added Wednesday to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s “Young Guns” program.
