A survey of 607 likely voters conducted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Political Institute and Cherry Communications found now-Independent Gov. Charlie Crist leading the pack.

The poll had Crist favored by 42 percent, with Republican Marco Rubio, a former state Speaker, in second place with 31 percent and Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) with 14 percent. The survey was in the field June 9-13 and had a margin of error of 4 points.

But there’s another candidate in the race: big-spending self-funder Jeff Greene. The effects of his recent advertising campaign will be tracked in future polls as he challenges Meek for the Democratic nomination.

Crist was tracked ahead by smaller margins in recent Quinnipiac University and Ipsos polls, and he was found as running even with Rubio in a Rasmussen Reports survey conducted June 7.
