White House Names New Cybersecurity Chief

The White House on Tuesday said it is naming Howard Schmidt as White House cybersecurity chief.“Howard will have the important responsibility of orchestrating the many important cybersecurity activities across the government,— White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Director John Brennan wrote on the White House Web site.“Howard is one of the world’s leading authorities on computer security, with some 40 years of experience in government, business and law enforcement,— Brennan wrote. Schmidt served in the White House of former President George W. Bush as a top cybersecurity official and has also served as a senior security officer at Microsoft and eBay.
