Former President Bill Clinton will make a trip to Kentucky on Friday to campaign for Bruce Lunsford, the Democratic political upstart trying to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R).

Clinton will appear with Lunsford at events in Paducah and Bowling Green. The former president’s trip comes just a couple weeks after a similar campaign swing by his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).

Lunsford has narrowed the gap in recent weeks against McConnell, who is seeking his fifth term. Polls have shown McConnell’s lead steadily dropping, but with him still maintaining the lead over Lunsford. A McConnell campaign poll released in October showed the top Republican with less than 50 percent support, but still with a 9-point advantage over Lunsford.
